Emerald Ash Borer
Emerald Ash Borer, an insect that kills ash trees, has killed and forced removal of millions of ash trees since it was first discovered in Michigan in 2002. It was first identified in NY in 2009 and has since been found in 7 counties and in Mallorytown, Ontario (less then 5 miles from St. Lawrence County). Left untreated, infected ash trees will die. Fortunately, there are treatments that will protect and save infected trees.
